EuroNeurotrophin meets the emerging need for training researchers in drug discovery and development with a focus on the design, synthesis and isolation of new neuroprotective small molecule neurotrophin mimetics and their assessment using multimodal approaches, as well as their use towards market applications.
This research approach will be implemented through three research work packages (WP1: Design, synthesis and isolation from marine microorganisms of small molecule mimetics of neurotrophins, WP2: In vitro assays, study of the underlying molecular mechanisms and WP3: In vivo studies). Each of the three WPs will be handled by a cluster of participants who will interact with the other participants through transfer of knowledge, expertise, compounds and shared infrastructure. |
