EuroNeurotrophin Training Events

The EuroNeurotrophin consortium has planned a series of regular network-wide activities and unique events with the aim of creating a framework for joint research and training of the PhD students, mutual exchange and exposure of the students to a wider audience. The events cover a range of formats, from unique workshops organised specifically for the EuroNeurotrophin network to well established international conferences.

Past Training Events

International Conference and Cluster Day
August 2021 | Heraklion, Greece
CST-5: Skills in Translational Neuroscience
March 2020 | Virtual, USFD
3rd EuroNeurotrophin Network Week
November 2020 | Online

SCHOOL - 2: Structural biology approaches for neurodegeneration
Wednesday - Saturday, 30 September-3 October 2020

The 4-day long school included theoretical lectures on important bioinformatics topics. The ESRs also had the chance to build a model of a neurotrophin by comparative modelling. In all practicals, the answers to the questions were discussed in parallel with a demonstration of the practical steps. The second part of the School 3 was about Macromolecular X-Ray crystallography. The two days were organized in order to give first the basis of X-Ray crystallography and second hands-on experience on processing real diffraction data.

2nd EuroNeurotrophin Network Week
November 2019 | Dresden, Germany

SCHOOL - 2: In vivo models for neurodegenerative disorders: strengths and limitations
Wednesday - Saturday, 13-16 November 2019

The 4-day long school included theoretical lectures on in vivo models of neurodegenerative disorders, as well as hands-on experience in identification and analysis of these models.

CST-2: Patenting and Commercialization in Biotech
20-21 November 2019

All the ESRs had the great opportunity to attend a two-day workshop on Patenting and Commercialising Novel Biomedical Inventions held by Ventac Partners. Dr. Kostas Alevizopoulos and Dr. Neil Thomas brought the ESRs to the patent world, dealing with drawing up of a business plan, request for a patent and negotiation with investors for funding.

1st EuroNeurotrophin Network Week
3rd - 12th December 2018 | Athens, Greece
SCHOOL - 1: Computer-Assisted Drug Design, Synthesis and Isolation from Natural Sources of Small Molecule Neurotrophin Mimetics
5-8 December 2018

The first EuroNeuroTrophin training week started with giving the ESRs an overview of various theories and applications and hands-on training over the course of four days to support the research in their individual projects.

CST - 4: Workshop on Drug Discovery and Development for Neurodegenerative Diseases (ND)
11 - 12 December 2018

The ESRs had the opportunity to attend a two-day seminar on clinical development held by Novartis Hellas SACI, having an insight in how Novartis reimagine medicine in the global drug development in a patient-oriented way.
